Los pasados días 6, 7 y 8 de mayo de 2010, tuve el gran honor de ser invitado por la “Associazione Chitarristica Sassarese” para formar parte del jurado del XVI Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Emilio Pujol in Sassari (Italia).
Se presentaron 12 concursantes provenientes de Rusia, Japón, Mexico, Italia, Francia y Finlandia.
Last 6, 7 and 8 May 2010, I had the great honor of being invited by the “Associazione Chitarristica Sassarese” to form part of the Jury at the XVI Emilio Pujol Guitar International Competition in Sassari (Italy)
There were 12 contestants from Russia, Japan, Mexico, Italy, France and Finland.

El pasado 22 de abril, fui invitado por Patricia Español, antigua alumna y Profesora de la “Escola Municipal de Música de Tremp”, a realizar un Taller de Guitarra dentro de la Semana Cultural organizada por la propia escuela.
Trabajé con diferentes conjuntos de guitarras, y también dirigí un ensayo en el que se interpretaron varias de mis obras.
Fue una experiencia muy bonita, y pude comprobar el interés y el entusiasmo que transmite Patricia a todos sus alumnos, estimulándoles a disfrutar de la música con energía y simpatía.
Pude ver también un edificio magnífico que será la nueve sede de la Escuela y que confirma la excelente salud y el buen futuro que tiene la música en Tremp, gracias a la excelente labor de la Dirección, los Profesores y el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de esta bonita población del pirineo de Lleida. On 22 April, I was invited by Patricia Español, old student of mine, and teacher of the “Escola Municipal de Música de Tremp”, to make a Guitar Workshop in the cultural week organized by the school.
I worked with different guitar ensembles, and also conducted a rehearsal with several of my works.
It was a beautiful experience, and I could see the interest and enthusiasm that Patricia transmitted to all students, encouraging them to enjoy music with energy and sympathy.
I could also see a magnificent building that will be the new home of the School and this confirms the excellent health and good future of music in Tremp, thanks to the excellent work of the management, teachers and the Council support of this beautiful city of the Lleida Pyrenees. Este es uno de los primeros ensayos, dirigido por mi, de “En la soledad de las montañas”, primer movimiento de mi obra “Valle de Chistau”, interpretado por Ensemble XXI el 25 de abril de 2010 en Coma-ruga. (Tarragona).

Me alegra comunicaros que he sido invitado ha participar en el II Encuentro de Guitarra “Sanlúcar de Barrameda” los días 29 y 30 de abril, que organiza el excelente guitarrista Daniel Vissi.
Me ilusiona mucho poder desarrollar en esta actividad todas mis facetas musicales: intérprete, profesor y director, dirigiendo mi música interpretada por la Orquesta del Conservatorio.

I am glad to announce that I have been invited to participate in the “II Encuentro de Guitarra “Sanlúcar de Barrameda” the next 29 and April 30, organized by the excellent guitarist Daniel Vissi.
I’m very excited to develop in this activity all my musical facets: performer, teacher and conductor, conducting my music performed by the Orchestra of the Conservatory.

Para mi, escoger un libro, en una librería o en una biblioteca, era un auténtico problema.
Siempre me da la impresión de estar en un hospicio.
Los libros me miran silenciosamente esperando ser elegidos, suplicando que dé vida con mi lectura la historia que llevan aprisionada en sus páginas.
Pasaba mucho tiempo mirando portadas, paseando indeciso, leyendo argumentos… hasta que, un día, descubrí un método infalible y rápido para realizar mi elección en menos de un minuto.
Entro en la biblioteca, me sitúo delante de una estantería llena de libros. Con mucho cuidado de no mirarlos, cierro los ojos, respiro hondo y con mi mano abierta me dejo guiar por el azar y, en una especie de pequeño estado de trance, dirijo mi mano abierta al viento hacia uno de ellos y… ¡ya está!
¡Ese es el elegido!
Muchas veces son libros con portadas vulgares, que yo nunca hubiera escogido, sobre temas que no me hubieran parecido interesantes, pero que después han resultado ser una gran sorpresa.
Como en las personas, la belleza está en el interior, la apariencia externa condiciona muchas veces nuestras decisiones en exceso.
Para estas cosas, me gusta dejarme guiar por el azar. Nos asusta reconocer lo importante que es en nuestras vidas.
Entonces, ¿porqué no dejarle que guíe, con nuestra aceptación, algunas de nuestras decisiones?
A mi me funciona…y me ha proporcionado maravillosas sorpresas.

For me, choosing a book in a bookstore or a library, was a real problem.
It always gives me the impression of being in a hospice.
The books, look at me silently, waiting to be chosen, begging that I give life with my reading the story that are trapped in their pages.
I spent much time looking covers, undecided walking, reading arguments … until one day I found a quick and foolproof method to make my choice in less than a minute.
I go into the library, I stand in front of a bookshelf full of books. With careful not to look at them, I close my eyes, breathe deeply and open my hand guided by chance and, in a small state of trance, I extend my open hand to the wind and… Done!
That’s the one!
Often are books with vulgar covers, I never would have chosen them, on issues of little interest to me, but later proved to be a great surprise.
As in people, beauty is in the interior and external appearance conditions many times over our decisions.
For these things, I like to be guided by chance. It scares us to recognize how important it is in our lives.
So… Why not let it to guide, with our acceptance, some of our decisions?
Really works for me … and has given me wonderful surprises.

Todos tenemos la obligación, por el mero hecho de existir, de dejar huella en el mundo, de dejarlo mejor de como lo encontramos.
We all have the obligation, only by to exist, of leaving a mark on the world, making it better than we found it.
El fracaso es siempre la consecuencia de un intento.
Es mejor perderse en el camino de un viaje imposible que no partir nunca.
Cuando Edison inventó la bombilla, no le salió a la primera, realizó más de mil intentos.
Un alumno suyo le preguntó que porqué persistía en construir una bombilla, si tras más de 1ooo intentos había fracasado, Edison respondio:
” No son fracasos, he conseguido saber 1000 formas de cómo no debe hacerse una bombilla”.
Debes aceptar el error, el fracaso, como un compañero necesario para crecer y mejorar durante toda tu vida.
Las metas más altas suelen esconderse siempre detrás de dolorosos intentos fallidos.
Failure is always the result of an attempt.
It is better to lose on the road to an impossible journey that never depart.
When Edison invented the light bulb, made it before over a thousand attempts.
A student asked him why he persisted in building a light bulb, if after more than 1OOO attempts had failed, Edison replied:
“There aren’t failures, I have found 1000 ways how not to get a light bulb.”
You must accept the error, failure, as a necessary companion to grow and improve throughout your life.
The higher goals are always hiding behind painful failed attempts.
