He finished the last movement of my piece “The language of the river,” I’m writing for the outstanding Finnish guitarist  Mari Mäntylä. I have entitled it “The voice of the river”.
“The voice of the river” begins as a rapid toccata full of light and energy with fast rasgueados and arpeggios. The middle section contrasts greatly with the initial environment. It is extremely quiet, almost meditative, and suddenly there comes a sinuous melody very expressive and beautiful, to return later to the bravery of the beginning.
It was a pleasure to write this score, and much easier than I thought, the ideas have been smooth and I am very satisfied with the outcome.
The work  is written for 10 string guitar and is impossible to think of an adaptation for the 6 guitar strings. However, I plan to make an orchestral version to play it with Ensemble XXI. I think it can be very good.
Unfortunately bad news marked the end of the work. Just when I send the score, Mari explained me about  the sudden death of  her mother.
She is passing a very bad time.
Life, like a rivers, has its black and treacherous holes.
I hope that somehow my music can help her to leave of darkness.
