Mi cabeza da vueltas. My head turning.

¡Me gusta mi trabajo!
¡Soy muy afortunado!

A few days ago, I could not get out of bed.
Everything revolved around me, I felt horribly sick, could not keep myself in the floor.
The doctor told me that it was a neck contracture, possibly due to an intense effort made with fingers or arms.
Immediately I remembered that I was conducting Ensemble XXI more of seven hours, without interruption, for the recording of our new Cd.
Before were the rehearsals and one concert, all in the same week.
Surely my weak neck muscles «were afraid» of so much activity after being so quiet in the beautiful landscapes of the Pyrenees and decided that, perhaps, I was asking them too much and showed their displeasure required me to keep immobile for 10 days without work that had been a torture.
Before leaving the doctor made me several questions:
Have you made any special effort in recent days?
Do you feel nervous, stress?
Do you like your job?
I answered the latter with one YES, resounding.
I love my job!
I’m very lucky!

Oculto entre las notas. Hidden between the notes.

I always have thought that music is something mysterious, hidden beyond our rational understanding.
And there are times that in the most luxurious auditorium, with the finest interpreter, in the most expensive and comfortable armchair of the most prestigious designer, we can boring a lot and feel absolutely nothing, however, in the most unexpected moment, even walk down the street, we can listen to a popular musician with a few basic notions of music that can move and affect us deeply.
I think that who best understood this hidden mystery was the great French composer Claude Debussy, who said:
«Music is not in the notes but what is hidden between the notes»
The music is always a reflection of what we have inside, our feelings and emotions, that in a mysterious way, hidden between the notes.

Días de montaña. Mountain days.

As each August, I’ve been with my family in the Pyrenees.
These are days of intense contact with nature, of feel us very near, to enjoy the wind, sun, the calm, gray clouds at home, while time passes slowly.
For me it is very important to note the nature very close, I walk, and into my head emerging ideas, melodies … and my son Albert it notices in a moment, «Mom, he is so tedious…, Dad is already composing …» And I feel OK and, upon returning home, we always accompanies the joy and good mood that trees and rivers, gradually, have spreading us.
Always the same mountains, the same paths, however, always seem different, we might be those who change every year…and always the MUSIC, a new work that now is growing.
