Sueño. A dream.

Un sueño

He soñado varias veces lo mismo.

I have dreamed several times the same.
I am in the bed and, suddenly, it is as if the gravity disappeared.
It is an pleasant sensation that I can control, jump as if outside rubber and I can float over the room.
I bounce in the bed, I occur to impulse and flight.
That it will mean…

Nostalgia.

Tolva

Carpe diem.

When I was a child, I was ill. He could not breathe well and the doctor recommended my parents who took me to some place with purer air.
Each weekend and in vacations we went to Tolva, a small and pretty town of the Pyrenean of Huesca(Spain).
When step now that way, I cannot avoid to feel deep nostalgia: Nostalgia of being again that short boy of brown skin and trousers with the knees destroyed by the falls ones in bicycle,
pursuing at night with total freedom,
to spy on the hidden cemetery and its noises, and to see move nonexistent shades,
to have tobacco hidden in a hollow of a tree,
to run in bicycle while it persecutes Freddy to me, the dog of the street of means,
to return to raise the car thrown by mule of Chironi,
to have a secret cabin of woods and straw,
to play ingenuous games of robbed kisses again,
to hide to me in the old corral under a coat,
to smell of earth wet from my window,
to enamor to me hopelessly with a terrible, painful way and of that girl of city, to shake with single seeing her,
to die with single watching her…
The past summer I returned with my family and I taught to Albert, my son, the places in which I was so happy, without knowing it, in my childhood.
I verified with astonishment that those mountains were not so great, neither the so dark caves, nor the so leafy forests, nor the so deep river, as I saw them then.
I felt sadness, my eyes are not those of that boy of 10 years old and, unfortunately, never, never they will return more to being it.
Carpe diem.

Amazonas. Amazon.

Amazon2

Following with the fascination that the rivers produce in the composers, I have listened to the symphonic poem for great orchestra «Amazon» of Heitor Villa-Lobos, I have remained made an impression.
The work is based on one old Brazilian legend (the legend another subject that it enchants to me…) that speaks of a young virgin who each dawn went to the Amazon to bathe undresses to seduce the men of its town.
The Gods gotten upset with their arrogance and sensuality cause that only it attracts terrible monsters.
The work is of great rythmical complexity, with a very rich writing and an instrumentation shining that remembers «Le sacre du Printemps» and in some passages to the «Prelude al’apre-midi d’un faune».
It is peculiar, is not recognized in the style of Villa-Lobos that we know the guitarists by no side.
The instability of the river this always present and also the resistances between the sensuality of the young person and the monsters which she attracts.
It is a wild work that seems to submerge to us in a hostile territory where any thing can happen at any time.
Someone said that Villa-Lobos showing the map of Brazil said «this is my Conservatory», he was a genius that learned very well to listen and to take advantage of the wealth its roots.

Masterclass de percusión. Percussion Masterclass

Dimitri

The Greek Dimitri Psonis, one of the best European percussionists, specialized in old and Eastern instruments, was working with our orchestra Ensemble XXI, different works from our repertoire.
Play, of an incredible way, all type of instruments of great beauty from different Asia countries.
One of the affirmations more surprising than said was: «music already have its own rhythm, the function of the percussion is not to give rhythm, is to give color and to make it more attractive, more expressive»
I liked the deep concentration whereupon he listened to our music, with his deep lost dark eyes in the horizon, as being soaked of the character of the work, to begin, later, to construct with his finges impossible rhythm of a great wealth.
It gave very original ideas us, is able to construct an instrument with any thing: a curtain with tied keys, and surprised to us creating a precious effect with a sheet of paper sliding it by its knees.
To Dimitri it liked, specially, the work The lost oasis (group 5 of our catalogue).

Los ojos del río. The eyes of the river.

Bruma buena

Emphasized in one of my old books:
«It contemplated the current, its green transparency, the crystalline lines of its mysterious drawing tenderly. It saw arise to per them shining from the bottom and to float quiet bubbles in the surface, that reflected the blue one of the sky. With thousands of eyes it watched the river as well: green, white, crystalline, celestial. Whereupon fascination and gratitude loved that water! In his heart it heard the voice, that had returned to wake up and it said to him: It loves these waters! Keep in its side! It learns of them!»
I feel identified with this fragment of the Siddharta of Herman Hesse, one of my favorite writers.
The water has always fascinated me and in special the rivers, I never get tired to watch them and have tried to shape in music my sensations.
Listening Mist on the river, first movement of my work «Fog» (Group 4 of the catalogue)

Increible pero cierto. Incredible but certain.

I read with stupor that Michihito Mizutani has invented a reproducer of CD that consists of a transparent table where the CD is placed and automatically it reproduces without removing it from your box.
Perhaps someday putting the hand in the same table, the machine can reproduce the melodies that the composers imagined or directly turn in music our intimate feelings. Incredible, right?, but nonimpossible, if you don’t believe it only ask it to Jules Verne.

Oscuro pensamiento. Dark thought.

It has happened to you sometimes that a music arrives to you so inside that you can not to support it, as much, that you think that what you feel cannot be only of this world?
It happens to me when I listen to IV movement of the Strings Serenade of Dvorak.
It is deep and painful but, also of hipnotic beauty, surrounding sadness; when I listening to it I think that it is a small sample of which it surpasses to me, that goes more away … than it cannot be single work of this world.
I have a dark thought: Will be something more after the death?
I do not know it, but there is «something» or «somebody» behind this music and that «something» or «somebody» is reflected, perhaps of a minimum way, in this music and in which I feel.
It is the greatness of the Art, causes that we feel proud to belong to the human race and simultaneously small by not knowing from where comes as much beauty.
Listen it, perhaps it happens to you the same.

Belleza abandonada. Left beauty.

I have fallen in love with the pictures of the German Berthold Steinhilber.
Usually he photograph ghost towns or left places, it obtains a surprising effect, seem scenes of other worlds. I
It would like to lose to me in these places, to walk in your pictures full of mystery, left beauty.
His imagenes affects to me, they are expressive, full of enchantment and mystery, like the music that I would like to know how to write.

Alfie

I have seen the film Alfie with Jude Law and it seems to me very bad.
It is an instrument to the service of its vain personality in a history without direction and boring. Nevertheless, there is a scene in which a old man says to him, to Alfie, that what it has learned in the life reduces to two phrases: it looks for somebody that to love and lives every day as if outside the last one.
I believe that they are the secret of the happiness.
