Jos\u00e9 Antonio Chic<\/strong> is a leading figure in the evolution of guitar ensemble repertoire. Nominated for \u00abBest Classical Music Composer\u00bb<\/strong> by the Spanish Academy of Arts and Music Sciences, his innovative works are part of the curriculum at prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School<\/strong> in New York and are performed by orchestras worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Lleida (Spain), he trained under the guidance of his uncle Ricard Chic and Arnaldur Arnarson, later joining the Konzertclass of Maestro Oscar Ghiglia<\/strong> at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Basel<\/em> (Switzerland), where he graduated with the \u00abSolistendiplom\u00bb and the \u00abHonour Award.\u00bb<\/strong> Early in his career, he was awarded the \u00abExcellence Diploma\u00bb<\/strong> at the European Guitar Competition in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A disciple of the legendary Ernest Xanc\u00f3<\/strong> (Pau Casals\u2019 prot\u00e9g\u00e9), he has performed to critical acclaim as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Gon\u00e7al Comellas Chamber Orchestra<\/strong>, Budapest Strings<\/strong>, and Virtuosi di Praga<\/strong>. His monographic recording of Emili Pujol\u2019s<\/strong> work is featured in the prestigious \u00abGuitar\u2019s Top 100,\u00bb<\/strong> a selection of the finest guitar recordings of all time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
