Este año se cumple el 25 aniversario de la muerte del guitarrista, compositor e investigador Emilio Pujol (1886-1980).
A él le gustaba definirse como un Servidor del Arte.
Se le conoce también por su defensa del sonido de la guitarra sin uñas, hay que saber entender lo que esto significaba para Emilio Pujol: la busqueda de la pureza, de la máxima profundidad, el saber valorar la poesia y la belleza que encierra cada nota dentro del delicado sonido de la guitarra.
Como guitarristas con uñas también podemos aplicar esta filosofía.
En su obra encontramos el romanticismo en la linea de su maestro Tárrega, música sensible y profunda, muchas veces disfrazada de una aparente sencillez.
Todos los grandes concertistas que le tuvieron como su profesor lo veneran. Hablan de él como una persona humilde, de gran riqueza, que les marcó para siempre.
Recuerdo a Hopkinson Smith, uno de los más importantes alumnos de Emilio Pujol, hablar de él con lágrimas en los ojos y lleno de emoción.
Su obra estuvo, de una manera especial, muy presente en mis primeros años de formación con mi tío, Ricardo Chic, alumno de Emilio Pujol y que, como muchos otros, lo admiraba profundamente.
En el año 2003 grabé para la discográfica La mà de Guido un Cd. dedicado a las composiciones de Emilio Pujol que forman parte de una manera tan especial de mi vida musical.
Una de las que más queridas para mi es Impromtu, una preciosa obra que Pujol dedicó a su madre. A ella le gustaba tejer y en la obra las voces se entrelazan como hilos para formar armonías tiernas y melancólicas. Mientras Pujol escribia esta obra su madre murió.
Muchas de sus obras siguen injustamente olvidadas e incluso criticadas.
Quizás porque, para valorarlas, hay que saber verlas con ojos humildes y sencillos como los de Pujol, un Servidor del Arte.
